    Egad! What a techno-jump from something really simple like a 750cc Harley WLA! I heard a story about one traveling to Sturgis in a group ride where the sweep was behind the old relic with instructions to flag the rider down if he stopped seeing oil fog from the exhaust. What equipment do you have to keep the wind noise out of your videos? I apologize if I've asked this before but I have memory lapses. BTW, what do you think of S100 for bike cleaning? Great ride in any event. ryde safe!

    I envy your donut! Following the Sena size chart I ordered a Large size via Amazon a few months ago and it came with the donut. Terrible fit, the chin bar would not even close over my chin. I then ordered and gambled on an XXL and it was a perfect fit but did not come with a donut. Sena support claimed they never came with donuts and said you can't buy one from them because they never had a donut. The Sena support people are nice and try hard to help but they have never succeeded in helping me with anything. I eventually was able to get a software update and , "how-to's", no thanks to Sena. Users on the Sena community forum did help me and they gave me ways completely different from the 3 or 4 ways Sena says it should be done. It has been a very bumpy road but I like the helmet features, speakers are fantastic compared to any I have had over the years. FM works great, pairing with phone and mp3 players works great. Like you the chin strap ratchet sucks compared to the aftermarket ratchets I have used on my helmets over the past several decades. There are far far far too many communications options via mesh, etc. that I can never ever remember or use but there may be riders that have brains and memories good enough to take advantage of them. Like you I have used the Sena products that attach to the side of the helmet and they have worked well. I have used 3/4 coverage brain buckets since day one but decided I needed a full coverage modular like the Impulse at less than half the cost of a Shoei Neotec 3, plus the Sena comm system which adds another 4 or 5 hundred bucks. So, very bummed over the donut, bummed I had to get the flat black vs gloss black that I have always had for the past 50 years, but I am getting more accepting of it. At 76 years old it is still baffling to me why anyone chooses to have a bike or a helmet in a matte finish color, crazy. 😉

    I ride a 2016 Indian Roadmaster and absolutely love it. The bike has low miles, just turned 10k. I don't care for the lower fairings that came on the bike and immediately removed them and removed the large luggage rack and original seat as well. I ride solo 90+ % of the time and don't care for listening to music when I ride, so removing the too large luggage rack and sofa-seat was absolutely the best thing I could do. I installed 4" Rinehart slip-ons and upgraded to a high-flow air cleaner (I had a dealer do this, as the engine needs to be tuned when adding these items, otherwise it creates problems you don't want). After these changes to the exhaust and air-cleaner, the bike immediately got 8+ mpg improvement and the low-end rumble of the engine is lovely. I replaced the original seat with Ultimate Seats solo and passenger seats and installed the back rests for each seat. I finally found a 12" sissy bar that Indian makes for the Roadmaster and will be attaching smaller hard case luggage to the sissy bar rack when I find what I want. I also installed Clearwater Light's yellow running lights on the lower front forks, this provides GREAT visibility up front, and I added blinking LED brake lights for increased visibility when braking. Wish I could attach a photo of this bile. It turns heads wherever I go, and I am so proud of it. In reality, it is now a very high-end bagger! I never experience too much heat when riding this bike, mainly because I permanently removed the lower front fairings. I rode bikes for years without any fairings and the wind on my legs doesn't bother me at all. If you are experiencing too much heat from the engine/exhaust, the first thing to do is remove the lower front fairings and let the engine breathe. We are all different. I am actually odder than the guy that created this video and I don't have any of the problems he talks about. Just find your own way. If a standard bike doesn't meet your needs, just make it into what you want. I love riding the hi--way and a big bike, such as the Roadmaster is exactly what suits me best. The club I sometimes ride with loves backroads. When I ride with them, I just take my time on winding roads... big cruisers aren't as nimble as BMWs and other smaller bikes on the backroads... but my skills are improving. Mainly, I can always catch up, so I don't worry about speed on backroads. One thing I absolutely love about my bike is that I can ride with ANY BIKE on the road and this Indian holds its own!

  • @NormKohn
    @NormKohn 2 місяці тому

    Interesting, because most heat usually comes from the right side. I've had mine for the past 7 years and have been out in 110 degree weather in Texas. As long as your'e moving the bike won't overheat. Sitting in traffic may be another story. I've removed the cat and added a better engine tune, added slip on exhaust and Capt Itch. Heat on my right ankle is the worst spot so I move it outboard or on to the highways pegs.

  • @billortloff4215
    @billortloff4215 2 місяці тому

    I have a 22 roadmaster. Yes, my left underthigh gets HOT. I installed a "Captain Itch" leather heat shield. It seems to move it ftom under my thigh. It's a lot better. However, I'm concerned that it may overheat the engine.

    I had the same problem as Norm on my 2020 Indian Challenger. I followed his advice and went with the Apple CarPlay dongle. I tried two different brands in the course of 3 weeks. I got them to almost work perfect using Norm's advice. Not getting it perfect, I tried something else. I unpaired all the bluetooth devices from iPhone and Challenger. I replugged my USB-A male to female inside cubby hole and stuffed it full of bubble wrap, so the cords were in there tight and could not move around when riding. I paired my Packtalk Edge to my iPhone 15 Pro Max on channel 1. I did not use motorcycle pairing on Edge (rolling jog wheel rearward), for my motorcycle , instead I paired the edge to motorcycle using "Second Phone Pairing" by rolling jog wheel forward. Then plugging my USB-C cord into my iPhone that goes to the USB-A adapter on the bike. So pair the Edge to iPhone; Edge to Challenger and plug in USB-C cord to iPhone which I have on my handlebars. The only hiccup I have is when listening to music and I talk to Siri, there is a 15 second delay before music will play again. You can get the music back faster by going to the iPhone's home screen and then dragging from top to bottom on the right hand side of phone. This will open the Control Center of the iPhone. Click on the music player in right hand corner and it will show the symbol for CarPlay is in control. Touch the symbol and change the speaker priority it to your Packtalk Edge and your music will immediately start to play again. IF you can do it my way, great. You save some money not having to buy the CarPlay dongle. If you cannot get it to work, then you have to do what you can to get it to work. Packtalk Edge was a little finicky, but I think lots of that has to do with so many different settings within the iPhone can make it conflict. In fact, I was trying to get everything to work right and couldn't. This was after installing an iPhone software update. I read somewhere after installation you might have to delete all bluetooth device from phone and bike and reinstall. I did that, then it started working properly again. One nice thing (minor) with cord vs wireless dongle, is that with wired, when you skip to next song, it is almost immediately. While wireless CarPlay Dongle there is a 2-3 second delay.

      Glad your're having success. Now I discovered I only need my Sena headset paired to my bike and everything else works through Carplay. Immediate connection and music through my speakers. I'm still loving the wireless dongle.

    That is impressive. I think our roads are more abrasive to our tires here. Lot’s of chip stone.

    Thank you Norman. My light bar arrived today and I wanted to see how you mounted it, but I appreciate your demo and hope others look into getting one themselves.

      Richard, I drilled a couple of small holes into the flat bar under the tourpack and it was a perfect mounting spot, still going strong.

      @@NormKohn Thank you. I was looking at the mounting bracket and contemplating the same thing. I think that will hold up better than 3M tape, plus it looks like you can adjust the angle of the light if needed.

      @@richardwheeler3768 Richard, I installed mind directly to the metal without the bracket. It was not needed. I have used the bracket on license plate installs though on other bikes.

    I did not delete bluetooth items, because of this video, BUT I thnk your advice was the key to my 2020 Indian Challenger now working with bluetooth. Going on 9 dayss of trying to get it to pair and stay. I would get my Packtalk Edge to pair to motorcycle using dongle for CarPlay. Next day, it would not work. Last ngiht I deleted all bluetooth devices on iphone that connect to bike, I had to PHYSICALLY remove Carplay Dongle so I could pair to bike (not sure why, but tried to pair Packtalk Edge10 times to bike and it wouldn't until I unplugged dongle) Then I deleted all bluetooth items from motorcycle. So starting with a clean slate: 1. I paired Packtalk Edge to bike. This is the first time I did not roll the jog wheel rearward for bike pairing, I purposely rolled the jog wheel forward for 2nd Phone Pairing on Edge to try something different. 2. Paired iPhone to bike. Even though I deleted it, bike pulled it up and asked if I wanted to pair. 3 Plugged in AnyFar CarPlay dongle and paired it. Even though I deleted it, it remembered it and asked me 3 questions to which I clicked Pair, Allow, Allow to let dongle work with bike. Then CarPlay showed up and was working. I was planning on NOT pairing the Cardo Connect app to iPhone (trying something new to avoid glitches) but the volume was so low, I had to connect the two. I paired it and everything worked fine. If for some reason if all fell apart the next day when I tried to re-connect (this was the norm for 9 days) then I would see what I would have to unpair Then came the next day and I restarted everything, for the first time, everything just worked. Now, the only thing left to test is to connect to someone using DMC Mesh and see if CarPlay is still working. So far everyting is great.

      Wow that sounds intense and lots of trial and error. I think you’re on the right track restart phone and re pair only what is necessary. Best wishes hope it is successful.
